I managed to get back to the Art on Lake Exhibition in the City Park. We had such a lovely weather and decided to have some food and drinks in the Pop Up Prizma Bar. You must try the home made lemonades they are amazing. They even have boat shaped chips. A lot of people enjoyed the mix of al fresco dining and art at the same time.
Many people hired a boat to have a better view of the art works or to take pictures.
We visited the art shop only at the end but pop in first to pick up a map and some information about the artists and their works. Books are mainly in English in the shop, very nice selection on land art, sculptures, calatogues of the artists and they have children’s books, too. Also commissioned works by some of the artists and other design pieces are for sale. I can predict you that Zsuzsa Boldizsár’s porcelains will be top souvenirs from Hungary very soon. Traditional motifs with contemporary twist: playful, simple, sophisticated.
The exhibition is three years co-operation between the Museum of Fine Arts and other organisations, there are participating 25 artists from 16 EU countries. Also the most important Hungarian artists are present such as Balazs Kicsiny, Roza El-Hassan just to mention a few.
My favourite sculpture was the one made by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa: Soul XII. The work is part of his Souls – Nomads cycle and is a transparent figure made of stainless steel letters of the alphabet.
The place is for everyone not only for art lovers. It can be a great Sunday afternoon with kids – they can feed the ducks as there is no lake without ducks in Budapest.
