Bronze at the Royal Academy of Arts in London

Bronze at the Royal Academy of Arts in London

It was only the Impressionist (From Paris: A Taste for Imressionism -Paintings from the Clark ) exhibition I wanted to visit but my former colleague at Louis Vuitton convinced me to visit their new exhibition, too. Big thank you to him!

I had no idea what to expect as I did not check their website for this exhibition.
Bronze brings together about 150 fine pieces from all over the world from the past 5000 years. It was amazing to see works next to each other from different areas of the world and from different times. The exhibiton space is huge and cold but very much needed for the giant size masterpieces.
Antique works next to Kapoor, Koons and Bourgeois - must visit!

Anish Kapoor was born in Bombay and has lived in London since the early 1970s when he moved there for his studies. Over the past years he has exhibited in London and worldwide. Last autumn in London the Royal Parks and the Serpentine Gallery presented an exhibition of his large scale outdoor sculptures in Kensington Gardens.

Constructed from highly reflective stainless steel, the giant curved mirror surfaces created illusory distortions of the surroundings. As the exhibition was on until spring one could visit many times and enjoy the changing colours of the nature.

After the official opening of the Hungarian Pavilion,
Yesterday in words: met Marina Abramovic, spotted Grayson Perry in the Arsenale, rested at the Palazzo Giustinian with Christian Marclay`s The Clock, got confused with the vaporetto lines while looking for the Anish Kapoor installation on the San Giorgio Maggiore, gave up to find Karla Black`s work (must do it today), got in to the German Pavilion without queuing, little present from the Chinese Pavilion - great installations also, finished with the Arsenale, took a lot of pictures, collected too many catalogues.

And the opening of the Hungarian Pavilion of course.
Feet hurt - heart is happy!

Just a couple of days before I left London we decided with the girls to do the Olympic Games Tour. You can visit the construction site and dream about the 2012 Games already. It was raining of course but that was the last chance for me and we wanted to do it together.
We had to meet with our guide at the Bromley by Bow tube station. He took us for a 2 hours walk to Stratford – the beginning was very good actually but then it was way too long….especially walking in the rain. All the way I did hope that we really gonna go behind the fence and walk inside of the stadium. Until our guide said goodbye I did hope.
Just travel to Pudding Mill Lane DLR station and there it is. Anish Kapoor’s massive tower is under construction already. Zaha Hadid’s swimming centre is done. From the sides the two extra wings will be removed once the games are over. Because of those you cannot really see the wave shape of the building right now.
Next to the building site there is a cute little coffee shop to have a rest and have a nice hot chocolate. Perfect for a rainy day.
